Turn the chromosome painter into a Build 37 CSV for DNA Painter or the Borland Genetics Extract Segments tool.

1. Drag Ancestry ethnicity export to your bookmarks bar. If the browser will not save the drag, right-click the button, copy the link address, and paste it into a new bookmark.
2. On Ancestry, open the chromosome painter for the test you want, and stay on that page.
3. Click the bookmark. It reads the kit id from the page address and downloads ancestry-ethnicity-segments.csv.
4. Import the file into DNA Painter, or use it in the Borland Genetics Extract Segments tool.

Using Firefox or Safari? Show the steps

Firefox

1. Show the toolbar if needed: right-click a blank area beside the address bar → Bookmarks Toolbar → Always Show.
2. Drag the bookmarklet link onto it.
3. Open Ancestry’s ethnicity painter page, then click the bookmarklet.

Safari on Mac

1. Choose View → Show Favourites Bar if it’s hidden.
2. Drag the bookmarklet link onto that bar.
3. Open Ancestry’s ethnicity painter page, then click it.
